In about 1866, the Stockyards in Fort Worth was a bustling livestock trade center. By 1900 over a million cattle a year as well as other livestock were being sold and traded. The area was a hub of trade, where ranchers could sell their livestock and trade for goods, such as leather and building materials. Today, this Registered Historical District Is an active tourist center. The streets are lined with restaurants, famous leather and western supply stores, hotels, Souvenir shops, and the historic Cowtown Coliseum. When we are near a large water body, we always expect to find a restaurant at a marina. There is something about the atmosphere at the marina bars and restaurants, that just gives you a warm and relaxing vibe. Shookys on the Lake at Parsons Marina in Whitney, Texas didn't disappoint. It sits near the south end of Lake Whitney, just off state highway 22 and not far from the city of Whitney. Northgate RV Travel Park
Just inside of the state of Alabama, just outside the city of Athens, we found this little RV Park. If you are looking for amenities, stop now and drive on. But, if you are looking for a place to park your rig and take a break from the road, this little gem might just fit your needs. Northgate RV Travel Park is really nothing more than a small field with large pull through sites. A little word of caution though.
